Inauguration of conference in commemoration of Taef Accord.

NNA - A conference on Taef Accord, 25 years after its conclusion, was inaugurated on Wednesday at Phoenicia Hotel, upon the invitation of the Civil Center for National Initiative. The event was attended by former president Michel Sleiman, Information Minister Ramzi Jreij representing Prime Minister Tammam Salam, former House Speaker Hussein Husseini, United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly, National News Agency Director Laure Sleiman Saab, and a panel of politicians and dignitaries. In a word delivered on the occasion, Husseini considered that the National Pact document was the byword of the principle governing the constitution ever since its drafting. "The civil concept complies with the interests of the Lebanese by securing four interests: the state, the people, the religious groups, and individuals," he explained. =============R.A.H.
