After earning an economics degree from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, Mr. Kennedy immigrated to Canada in 1971 where he worked with Clarkson Gordon & Co. in Victoria, BC. In 1974, Kennedy received his C.A. degree from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He transferred with Clarkson Gordon to Toronto, but in 1979 to work for Weyerhaeuser Company Ltd. (formally MacMillan Bloedel Ltd.) as a Senior Tax Analyst.
MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. appointed Mr. Kennedy to the position of Vice President, Taxation in 1995. He was later promoted to the position of Vice President, Finance of Weyerhaeuser and served until his retirement in 2003.
In addition to being a member of TEI, Mr. Kennedy was also a member of the BC Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Canadian Tax Foundation. He was 55 years old.
