Nicholas L. Tilney, MD, passed away on March, 2013 at the age of 78. Dr. Tilney retired in 2010 as Honorary Surgeon, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Francis D. Moore Distinguished Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. He was a senior member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) from 1995 to 1996 and served as president of The Transplantation Society from 2006 to 2008.
Dr. Tilney was also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow, and a Doctor Honoris Causa of the Medical University of Warsaw. He had previously served as director of the Transplant Service at the Brigham and Women's Hospital from 1976 to 1992. Dr. Tilney was well known for writing the book entitled Transplant/From Myth to Reality, and his research in ischemia-reperfusion injury and chronic rejection.

H.M. Lee, MD, passed away on March 24, 2013 at the age of 87. Dr. Lee retired in 1997 as Chairman of the Division of Vascular and Transplant Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) in Richmond. Dr. Lee was raised in North Korea but escaped to South Korea as a young man. He obtained his medical degree from Seoul National University Medical School in 1949. He ultimately came to the US and trained under the tutelage of Dr. David Hume at the MCV.
Dr. Lee was a charter member of the ASTS and served as its 11th President in 1984-1985. He was also an active member of the Southeastern Organ Procurement Foundation and the United Network for Organ Sharing.
