In memoriam: Larry Tate (1935-2015).

Larry Tate, retired vice president of franchise sales for Golden Corral who served on the IFA Board of Directors for 10 years, passed away Oct. 20 in Raleigh, N.C. He was 80. Tate joined Golden Corral in 1984 as vice president of development. He also previously worked in management positions for Baskin-Robbins, Orange Julius, Manpower, Inc. and Shakey's Pizza. In 1990, he became Golden Corral's first senior vice president of franchising. In 2013, the company established the "Larry Tate Distinguished Service Award," given annually to the franchisee that has made the greatest contribution to the Golden Corral brand. Tate is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ennis Maynard; two daughters; three granddaughters; and three brothers. Memorial donations can be made to Covenant House, 461 Eighth Ave., New York, NY 10001.
