Imitation guns are snatched.

THE PUBLIC are being warned to be on the lookout after potentially lethal imitation handguns were stolen during a distraction burglary.

A number of firearms were taken after three white men posing as water board officials gained entry to a house belonging to an elderly gentleman on Fillongley Road in Meriden near Solihull, around 1.15pm on Thursday.

The pensioner was distracted by the men but later raised the alarm when he discovered that the weapons were missing.

They included a black 8mm automatic blank firer and a black .22 over and under Delenger gun. The guns were formerly used during wild west re-enactment performances but police are concerned that if a real bullet was fired from them, they could explode and cause serious injury.
