Imation introduces new removable hard disk drive.
Removable storage solutions provider Imation Corp (NYSE: IMN) announced on Thursday (6 July) its new removable hard disk drive (RHDD) technology, the Odyssey RHDD backup cartridge.
According to the company, the Odyssey cartridge contains a 2.5in SATA hard drive and its docking station fits into any 3.5in drive bay. The solution, designed for companies seeking entry-level, disk-based data storage options, can be used with any drag-and-drop Windows-based system, as well as most storage management software packages offered by independent software providers.
Odyssey solution reportedly features cartridge reliability and shock resistance, including the ability to withstand a 39in fall without exceeding HDD manufacturers' maximum shock specifications; connector reliability, using connector technology rated for up to 1m insertions; integrated electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection; as well as a soft-load mechanism.
No pricing details were disclosed.
