Image Processing Systems Inc. - Canadian Technology Company Opens an Asian Base of Operations in Taiwan; Image Processing Systems Creates High Tech Jobs and Export Sales.

TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 25, 1996--Image Processing Systems Inc. (IPS) today announced that it is opening a Representative Office in Hsin Tien City, Taiwan.

The purpose of the office is to provide service and support for IPS customers in Taiwan and act as a base of operations for sales and support activities in the Far East. "The opening of this office clearly reflects the importance that we place on Taiwan not only as a market for sales of our machine vision systems but also as a center for trade with the Test of Asia," said Teny Graham , President IPS. The Company's emphasis on global exports essentially turns the tables creating high tech jobs and export sales for Canada while helping the Far Eastern customers produce higher quality products at a lower cost for world markets. "The net result will be a win for both Canada and Taiwan," said Dave Morrison VP Marketing IPS.

IPS develops and manufactures proprietary machine vision systems used for automated inspection and process control in specialized industrial markets. A machine vision system replaces human visual quality inspection and adjustment with high-speed cameras and computer control. The machine vision market is growing at over 15% per year.

Over 95% of the Image Processing System's sales are exported and a rapidly increasing portion of this is in Far East Markets. The Company's primary product ADI Systems (Automated Display Inspection) are used worldwide in factories of major electronics manufacturers including Philips, Siemens, Daewoo, Sony, Zenith, Thomson (RCA), RCT Sharp, Caihong Electronics, JCT Electronics, Chunghwa Picture Tubes and International Electronics.

ADI Systems provide quality and productivity enhancements ensuring that each television and computer monitor tube is focused, full-sized, color sharp and properly positioned on the screen. Display manufacturers using ADI Systems have cut their defect rates to zero while more than doubling production rates. In addition, the Company has also developed and installed a bottle thread inspection system for a leading brewer in Canada.

IPS trades on the Canadian Dealing Network (symbol IMPS) in Toronto, Canada.
