Ikea plans to open three Moxy budget hotels in Belgium - report.
(SeeNews) - Sep 18, 2014 - Swedish furniture retailer Ikea plans to open three Moxy budget hotels in Belgium, but finding suitable locations seems to be difficult for now, local sector newspaper RetailDetail reported Wednesday.
The new hotels are planned to arise in downtown Antwerp, close to Brussels Airport and in Ghent, Peter Andrews, CEO of Inter Hospitality, the subsidiary of Ikea that is building the hotels, was cited as saying.
Ikea has recently opened its first Moxy budget hotel in Milan, in cooperation with US diversified hospitality company Marriott International (NASDAQ:MAR).
The Moxy hotels of Ikea and Marriott are trendy budget hotels with a surface area of between 5,000 sq m (53,800 sq ft) and 10,000 sq m, and 150 to 200 rooms. Room prices vary from EUR 65 (USD 83.7) to EUR 95.
Ikea aims to open 150 Moxy hotels in the next 10 years.
