Ikea Austria appoints new CEO.

(ADPnews) - Sep 16, 2009 - The Austrian subsidiary of Swedish furniture and home decoration retailer Ikea has appointed Giny Boer as chief executive of the unit with immediate effect

So far Boer, 46, has been deputy-head of Ikea Italy. She has worked for Ikea for 13 years.

Boer said she sees the competition pressures in Austria as a new challenge. Furthermore, the manager said she would not persist with the efforts of her predecessor Helen Duphorn for Sunday opening.

Ikea plans to open two or three new stores in Austria in the long term.
