Icomera to supply in-train connectivity to British rail service.

Icomera, a specialist in the provision of cellular broadband gateways, announced that it has been chosen to supply its MoovBox mobile broadband gateways to Wrexham and Shropshire railways (W&S), a train operator in the UK that runs direct trains from the UK Midlands to London.

The company said that W&S are to install MoovBox M200R mobile broadband gateways on all its trains running between London and the Midlands, connecting passengers to the Internet over 3G HSPA connections to both Orange and Vodafone.

The MoovBox M200R is capable of simultaneous connections to two different mobile broadband providers, providing aggregate bandwidth to customers on the train from both networks. Customers can connect to the MoovBox gateways over a standard Wi-Fi connection.

W&S is a joint venture between Renaissance Trains and Laing Rail, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn. The railway company provides direct connections between Wrexham, Shrewsbury and Telford to London's Marylebone station.

Icomera did not reveal any financial details of the supply contract.
