Ice Hockey: Blaze bid to take sting out of Hull.

CASSIDY Coventry Blaze are out for revenge when they entertain Hull tomorrow (7pm).

The Stingrays have proved to be one of the surprise packages in their first season in the top flight, well placed in the league and with a Challenge Cup semi final to come in January.

They also secured a dramatic 5-3 win over the Blaze in Hull earlier in the season, which chairman Andy Buxton hasn't forgotten.

"Losing 5-3 when we were 3-0 up hurt badly," said Buxton. "There is no doubt the players are really up for this one and they feel that they want to lay the ghost of that result to rest.

"We're a very different team from the one that lost that game - it was early season and the players hadn't fully become the team they are now.

"Hull took their chances well and all credit to them, but we are going to be a very different proposition on Saturday."

THE fixture will see the second and final appearance of the special Blaze Christmas jerseys and it will be the last chance for supporters to bid for them in the auction.

Many fans have already snapped up the jersey of their favourite player and the remaining jerseys will go to the highest bidder at the start of the third period on Saturday.

A pounds 200 bid, guarantees the shirt and bids can be placed in the Hockey Locker any time before the game or at the matchnight table on the night.

The lucky first 225 under 16s through the door this Saturday will also receive the first of four packs of Cassidy Coventry Blaze player cards.

The cards, produced in conjunction with West Midlands Fire Service & West Midlands Police carry safety messages as well as information about Blaze players.

BLAZE fans will also have the opportunity to welcome back Steve Fone and Tom Carlon, after their bronze medal winning performance in the World Under 20 Championships in Italy.
