IVANS reaches milestone in contract with MCI; additional discounts, new programs for IVANS members.

GREENWICH, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 25, 1996--IVANS has reached a milestone in its seven-year, $1.4 billion telecommunications pact with MCI.

IVANS is 18 months ahead of scheduled contract targets for new business, which translates into additional savings for many IVANS members.

IVANS selected MCI in 1993 to provide a wide range of telecommunications services to its more than 500 member firms, encompassing the entire insurance industry -- property/casualty, life and health insurance companies and agents; health care firms and related business interests.

The IVANS contract with MCI helps IVANS' membership save approximately $25 million annually in telecommunications costs.

"The fact that we're 18 months ahead of our sales projections for this program is testimony to the fact that MCI is providing IVANS members with the quality telecommunications services they require, at the prices they demand," said Todd Youngblood, IVANS' vice president of telecommunications. "We continue to work with MCI on the development of new services to meet the special needs of the insurance industry."

The agreement has provided the insurance industry with savings on voice, data, frame relay and teleconferencing services, as well as development of new programs.

"Information technology and telecommunications has revolutionized the way the insurance industry does business in recent years," said Maury Heim, executive manager, MCI industry and affinity marketing. "MCI is proud to have been a part of the sweeping changes that continue to take place."

MCI, headquartered in Washington, D.C., provides a full range of integrated communication services to more than 20 million customers.
