ITT SHERATON CORPORATION NAMES JAMES P. SMITH PRESIDENT OF ITT SHERATON RESERVATIONS CORPORATION

 BOSTON, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Sheraton Corporation today announced that James P. Smith, executive vice president, ITT Sheraton Corporation and director, administration will assume the additional responsibilities of president of ITT Sheraton Reservations Corporation.
 Smith's additional role makes him responsible for ITT Sheraton's worldwide reservations system, operations and staff.
 "Jim's career-long success within ITT and ITT Sheraton make him ideal for this responsibility; we are delighted to add his leadership to our strength in worldwide reservations," said John Kapioltas, ITT Sheraton chairman, president and chief executive officer. Smith reports directly to Kapioltas.
 He joined ITT Sheraton in 1990 as senior vice president, ITT Sheraton Corporation, director, administration after a 17 year career with ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT), which included a progression of field positions at ITT Grinnel. His positions there included manager, pension and benefits, director of personnel and director personnel and organization.
 Immediately prior to joining ITT Sheraton, Smith was director, Executive Continuity and Headquarters Personnel, ITT Corporation. In 1993 he was named executive vice president, ITT Sheraton Corporation.
 Smith is a graduate of Fordham University with a B.S. in Economics and a M.B.A. in Management from Baruch College.
 ITT Sheraton's $70 million worldwide centralized reservations system, Reservatron IV, was installed worldwide in 1992.
 Both SureSavers, the company's simplified pricing program, and Global Preference, the company's volume-based, negotiated rate and relationship program were realized due to Reservatron IV's enhanced capabilities to ensure rate integrity among the three primary reservations vehicles: the dedicated centralized system, the more than 400 properties worldwide and the leading global airline reservations systems.
 ITT Sheraton's worldwide reservations network of 16 offices are located in 15 countries, and toll-free service is available in 29 countries, where allowed by law and telephone system technology.
