ITT SHERATON APPOINTS LATHAM SENIOR VP, SECRETARY AND GENERAL COUNSEL
 BOSTON, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- James D. Latham has been appointed senior vice president, secretary and general counsel of ITT Sheraton Corporation, John Kapioltas, chairman, president and chief executive officer, has announced.
 Latham previously held the position of vice president and assistant general counsel. He joined ITT Sheraton in 1975 as assistant counsel and was named senior counsel in 1979.
 A year later, Latham was appointed general counsel for the company's Europe, Africa, Middle East and India Division, and vice president- assistant secretary, Sheraton Management Corporation, located in Denham, England.
 In 1983, Latham returned to the company's Boston headquarters as assistant general counsel, ITT Sheraton Corporation, and was elected vice president of the corporation in 1985. Latham was also a 1985 recipient of the Harold S. Geneen Award.
 Prior to his association with ITT Sheraton, Latham was a partner in the law firm of Goldman, Curtis, Cashman, Leahey and Latham of Lowell and Boston, Mass.
 Latham's appointment follows the retirement of N. Ronald Silberstein, former senior vice president, secretary and general counsel for ITT Sheraton. Silberstein, who was associated with ITT Sheraton for 36 years, served as general counsel since 1964.
 Latham, 49, is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Boston University of Law. A Lowell native, he currently resides in North Tewksbury, Mass.
