ITT SHERATON AND AMERICAN AIRLINES TEAM UP IN UPGRADE PROMOTION FOR AADVANTAGE FREQUENT FLYERS

BOSTON, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Sheraton Corporation has teamed up with American Airlines to offer AAdvantage frequent flyer members free upgrade stickers for staying at ITT Sheraton properties worldwide. From July 15 through Dec. 31, 1993, AAdvantage members earn four free upgrade stickers for every five stays at qualifying rates at any of over 350 participating ITT Sheraton hotels, inns, resorts or all-suites.
"ITT Sheraton's strong international presence makes it even easier for AAdvantage members to earn upgrades by offering properties in a multitude of domestic and international locations," said Edward L. Stahl, vice president, director of advertising and marketing programs. "With participating properties located in 53 countries, members qualify for upgrade stickers faster than ever -- whether they are traveling to San Francisco or Sao Paulo, Egypt or England, Tokyo or Toronto," he noted.
"American Airlines' strong international presence, with service to over 200 destinations, makes it a natural marketing partner for ITT Sheraton," added Hoyt H. Harper II, director of cooperative marketing programs. "This promotion will only strengthen that relationship, and provide AAdvantage members, many of whom are also our best customers and most frequent guests, with a valuable reward for their loyalty," he added.
Stays at ITT Sheraton properties earn AAdvantage members more than just flight upgrades. As always, AAdvantage members will continue to receive 500 miles for every stay at qualifying rates at AAdvantage participating ITT Sheraton properties around the world, and 750 miles for stays in a suite or Towers room in any participating property, and for every room at participating properties in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and South America. To participate in the upgrade promotion, AAdvantage members need only provide their American Airlines AAdvantage membership number upon check in.
American Airlines AAdvantage members who are currently members of ITT Sheraton Club International, while taking advantage of this sticker upgrade promotion, will continue to receive in-hotel benefits at ITT Sheraton properties including room upgrades whenever available, guaranteed 4 p.m. late check-out, weekday newspaper, ExpressPass and a Suite Guarantee.
AAdvantage members are not required to take an American Airlines flight to qualify for the upgrade stickers. Upgrade stickers are good for domestic travel on American Airlines and are valid through Feb. 28, 1994. Certain restrictions apply.
ITT Sheraton reservations can be made by calling a travel agent or ITT-Sheraton toll-free reservations at 1-800-325-3535.
