NEW YORK, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Rand V. Araskog, chairman, president and chief executive of ITT Corporation, today announced the appointment of Daniel P. (ITT COINS) as president and chief operating officer of ITT Sheraton Corporation, the company's hospitality network of hotels, resorts, all-suites, casinos and inns.
"ITT Sheraton is one of the most visible and important parts of ITT. I am pleased that we have internally the kind of executive talent that Dan Weadock represents," Mr. Araskog said. "The international experience and corporate statesmanship that Dan has developed, not only in his role as chairman of COINS, but during his more than 10 years in Europe, the last four of which as President of ITT Europe, will be a tremendous asset to ITT Sheraton which has hotels in 61 countries around the world," Mr. Araskog continued.
In his new assignment, which is effective November 1, Mr. Weadock will be headquartered in Boston and report to John Kapioltas, chairman and chief executive of ITT Sheraton. He was named president of ITT Europe in 1983, a position he held until the formation of the Alcatel joint venture in 1986. He returned to New York in 1987 and was named chairman, president and chief executive of ITT COINS. The company will name a successor to Mr. Weadock in the immediate future.
Mr. Weadock, a graduate of Fordham University, was awarded the "Knight of the Order of the Crown," by the King of Belgium in 1989. He and his wife, Florence, have four children and reside in Franklin Lakes, NJ.
