ITT HARTFORD OFFICES, STAFF PREPARE FOR HURRICANE ANDREW
HARTFORD, Conn., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Hartford Insurance Group is mobilizing resources and increasing its claim staff in southern Florida to serve policyholders whose property may be damaged by Hurricane Andrew.
The company ha already sent more than 100 emergency claim representatives to the state, and plans are being made to open emergency claim offices in areas hardest hit by the storm.
ITT Hartford routinely opens emergency claim offices in areas hit by hurricanes, tornadoes and other natural disasters," said Bob Mathieu, an assistant vice president in ITT Hartford's claim department. "The offices are staffed by Hartford employees in the area and by claim representatives from across the country. The destructive potential of Hurricane Andrew makes it imperative that we employ a large number of additional staff to ensure that our policyholders receive prompt and thorough service."
ITT Hartford provides claim service to southern Florida policyholders through an established office in Hollywood, Fla. Following the storm, claim representatives working out of that office will make preliminary surveys of the damage to determine the level of additional office and staff support needed.
ITT Hartford's claim representatives are committed to providing quick service to policyholders and are prepared to issue immediate advance claim payments to those with the greatest hardship.
Policyholders whose property has been damaged are advised to report the damage to their insurance agent. ITT Hartford customers who cannot contact their agent should call the company's emergency toll-free, 24- hour claim number -- 1-800-243-5860.
ITT Hartford policyholders who suffer damage are also asked to make temporary repairs to prevent further damage and to retain the receipts for such work.
ITT Hartford, a subsidiary of ITT Corp., is one of the nation's oldest and largest international insurance and financial services operations. Member companies offer commercial property and casualty insurance, automobile and homeowners coverages, and a variety of life insurance, employee benefit and asset management plans.
