IT WON'T BE EASY PEASY TITLE BID; JUNIORS.

BEITH 1

PETERSHILL 1

STEVIE EASTON believes the Super League title race is wide open - even though his side are top of the table.

The Petershill boss was satisfied with a point at Beith but is convinced there will be plenty of twists and turns in the campaign before the championship is decided.

Having played a lot more games than the rest, Easton admits he is happy to have points sealed. He said: "Teams become inconsistent in the run-in. Hopefully we can be focused and see out our remaining games with as many points as possible.

"We will have the luxury of not having to play many midweek games come April and by that time we should know if we are in with a chance of the title.

"It was a terrific spectacle for our game despite both teams being reduced to 10 men."

Petershill went in front after seven minutes when James Coultar fired a free-kick that keeper Keith Ross spilled into the path of Kevin Murray who scored from close range.

Moments later Beith equalised, Brian McKeown beat his man out wide and crossed to the unmarked Kenny McLean who easily nodded past helpless keeper Craig Parry.

In the closing minutes McLean was sent off for head-butting Gary Wild and seconds later Stephen McGowan was red-carded for lashing out at Craig Palmer.

Beith midfielder Brian McKeown reckoned a draw was fair. He said: "Petershill are hard to break down so we are happy to pick up a point."
