A LAZY cat has become an internet hit because of his daily visits to Asda.

Pixie's often spotted curled up in shopping baskets, dozing on wheelchairs or relaxing on top of the coin counting machine.

And he has his own Facebook site, with 280 friends, after being spotted by John Boswell at the store in The Jewel, Edinburgh.

John, of Niddrie, set up the Asda Cat profile "for a laugh".

He said: "I live and work close by so I'm in Asda nearly every day.

"It was Christmas when I first saw the cat there, keeping warm in the foyer, and was quite taken aback.

"I started taking pictures because no one would believe me but then people started posting more pictures and it grew from there.

"We've even seen it halfway up a Christmas tree at one point.

"He's definitely lazy and is always sleeping or waiting for you to come and pet him."

John said Pixie was putting on weight because so many admirers give him treats when leaving the store.

A spokeswoman for Asda said: "Pixie is quite an independent moggy, who tends to turn up when he pleases and enjoys a catnap outside the store.

"Our customers and colleagues are always happy to see him."
