IT'S HOUDINI ASHLEY; EXCLUSIVE.

Byline: NICK OWENS

LOVE rat Ashley Cole has been dubbed Houdini by teammates - after wriggling out of trouble yet again with forgiving Cheryl.

The Chelsea defender, 30, was in hot water last week amid claims he frolicked with a string of girls as he tried to win Cheryl back.

But his pals were amazed as the singer gave him another chance - and he told her he wants to settle down and start a family.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: "His teammates are calling him 'Houdini' as they can't believe how Cheryl keeps forgiving him. He's a modern-day escapologist."

The Sunday Mirror last week revealed Ashley had a fling with stewardess Kerry Meades days before sealing his reunion with Cheryl at her 28th birthday party last month.

He also allegedly romped with US model Jessyca Rayanne and had dates with former Miss Ireland contestant Collette McBarron before getting back with the former X Factor judge. But Ashley has told Cheryl to ignore the stories and insisted: "I'm not like that."

And the former X Factor judge, who divorced Ashley last year following claims he repeatedly cheated on her, has told pals she still loves him.

The couple want to re-marry and plan a new life in the US when his contract with Chelsea expires in two years. He wants to open a string of restaurants in LA with rap star pal Jay Z, 41, while Cheryl works on her music. A pal close to the couple said: "Ashley has been on tour in Kuala Lumpur with Chelsea but has been in constant touch with Cheryl. He has assured her she's the only girl he cares about. He told her he wants them to get married again, have babies and get away to the US."

We can reveal Ashley and Cheryl were drawn back together when they were made godparents to his niece Livia earlier this year. A source said: "It has really bonded them. They'd love to have children together one day ."
