IT'S GETTING SONIC AT CELTRONIC; FIRST ACTS ANNOUNCED FOR MAIDEN CITY ELECTRO FEST.

Byline: BRENDAN MCKEOWN & MARK WHYTE

Ireland's premier electronic music festival, Celtronic, celebrates its eighteenth anniversary this summer and is due to set up home around Derry again from Wednesday June 27 until Sunday July 1. The acclaimed festival regularly attracts thousands of music fans from across Europe to dance in the venues of the Maiden City to the sounds of some the world's best electronic music talent.

Previous festivals have featured dance music luminaries including Dixon, Derrick May, Carl Craig, Jon Hopkins, Mano Le Tough, Ben Klock, Joris Voorn, Clark, Recondite and John Talabot as well as providing hundreds of showcase and performance opportunities to the best local/ national DJs/producers and live acts.

'This year's lineup is shaping up to be something special and today, we can exclusively reveal the first two headliners at this year's festival.

After an unblemished career spanning almost two decades, Roman Flugel will visit Celtronic at the top of his game. Roman Flugel is committed. Not to one style, but to electronic music itself. An active member of Frankfurt's underground scene in the 1990s, Roman Flugel made a life time commitment to thriving on the knife edge of creative pursuit, shape shifting like smoke through different masks and guises along the way. With more than 20 years of expertise at his disposal, a night with Frankfurt's finest has become nothing short of unmissable. Flugel's CV is staggering, he is: co-founder of Ongaku - Playhouse - Klang Elektronik with Ata and Heiko Schaffer; the man behind immortal hits like "Geht's Noch?" or "Rocker", a producer under multiple aliases and projects (Roman IV, Soylent Green, Eight Miles High, Sensorama); a remixer and high-flying DJ able to constantly reinvent himself, playing at the best clubs around the world. All this topped in recent times by two excellent albums: "Fatty Folders" and "Happiness Is Happening", both released on Dial. The world is indeed his oyster.

For over 15 years Paula Temple has been pursuing her own unique musical path. As a self confessed noisician, living in Berlin, she specialises in a noisy, phantasmagoric techno sound, where the dial is rarely turned below 200 per cent and every moment of silence seems deafening. Her music is fearlessly liberating artistic statements that defies the boundaries of linear. The legendary label R&S records have released some of her finest work including 'Deathvox', which is regarded by many as of the most original contributions to modern techno. Her most celebrated track 'Gegen' remains an anthem at clubs and festivals worldwide and she has remixed artists including The Prodigy, The Knife and Peaches.

The full lineup for Celtronic 2018 will be revealed in the days ahead. Keep an eye on Celtronic's various social media channels for the full reveal. A limited number of access all events tickets priced PS50 will go on sale at wegottickets. com on March 30.
