FESTIVAL CASH FOR RONNIE: A rare breed of monkey that was abandoned by its mother at birth will be cared for thanks to a pounds 30,000 donation from a music festival. The male Diana monkey has been nicknamed Baby Ronnie after musician Mark Ronson who is to headline the Zoo Thousand and Eight Music Festival, in July, at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, in Kent.

BEAVER COMEBACK: The European beaver is to be reintroduced to the wild in the UK, Scottish environment minister Mike Russell announced. He has given the go-ahead for up to four beaver families to be released in Knapdale, Argyll.

INDIANA RATTLES RUSSIANS: Russia's Communist Party is calling for a nationwide boycott of the new Indiana Jones movie, saying it aims to undermine communist ideology and distort history. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull stars Harrison Ford as an archaeologist in 1957 competing with an evil KGB agent, played by Cate Blanchett, to find a skull endowed with mystic powers.
