ISWK girls clinch inter-school U-19 title.

Muscat: Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir (ISWK) grabbed top honours in the Al Turki Enterprises-sponsored Girls Under-19 Inter-school T20 league tournament after defeateing Indian School Al Ghubra (ISG) by 14 runs. Electing to bat first, ISWK, aided by 52 extras including 50 wides and 2 no-balls, scored 111 for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Akshadha Gunasekar, who was adjudged best batswoman, top scored with 32 runs. Sharlet Bastin picked up two wickets. In reply, the ISM girls found the runs hard to come by and managed to score 97 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Skipper Sunayna Devaiah, opening the batting, made a useful 28 runs. Sumati Shenoy took three wickets for 17 in four overs. Incidentally ISG recorded a massive six-wicket win against ISWK in the league match. During the prize-distribution ceremony, Vaishali Jesrani, lady co-ordinator of Women's Cricket, Chaitanya Gulabsi of Al Turki Enterprises for sponsoring the tournament since its inception in 2008. Viswanath Iyer, Controller of Finance at Al Turki Enterprises, presided over the ceremony and handed over the prizes. Oman Cricket General Secretary Madhu Jesrani, while congratulating the winners and other participating teams, informed that major development projects are in store for the development of cricket in Oman. Individual honours : Best batswoman: Akshadha Gunasekar (ISWK); Best bowler: Thara Fathima (ISG); Consolation prize : Sunayna Devaiah (ISG).
