ISRAEL-U.S. BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES TO BE FEATURED AT CONFERENCE 40 ISRAELI COMPANIES FROM TOP INDUSTRIES WILL DISCUSS PROSPECTS

NEW YORK, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Capitalizing on previous successes and on a new Israel-New York State economic relationship, 40 Israeli industrial firms will participate on June 23 in a day-long conference dedicated to fostering bilateral trade and investment.
One of three back-to-back events -- the others in Boston and Washington -- the conference is under the auspices of seven major U.S. and Israeli organizations.
Featuring representatives of some of Israel's most innovative companies from top industries -- including aerospace, electronics, software, agriculture, metallurgy, dental, automotive, plastics, textiles, and food -- the meeting will offer opportunities to explore business relationships.
On the roster are such major players as Rafael, Koor Industries, El- Op Electronics, and Israel Aircraft Industries, as well as a host of start-ups.
Ten enterprises will make presentations. There also will be panels on venture capital, public offerings, and marketing distribution; individual business appointments, and informal discussions at lunch and a reception.
"Given the success of growing numbers of our businesses, interest in Israeli commercial ventures is soaring," says Meir Buber, Israel's Trade Commissioner to the United States.
"This is evidenced by two facts: more and more U.S. and other foreign companies are investing in Israel, and in 1992, the 40-plus Israeli stocks traded in the U.S. enjoyed a phenomenal record."
Sponsored by the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the conference will be at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers, at Seventh Avenue and 53rd Street.
Co-sponsors are the Association of Israeli Export Industries in the U.S., the Government of Israel Economic Mission & Trade Center, the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Manufacturers Association of Israel, the New York-Israel Economic Development Partnership, and the Operation Independence Business Network.
The current conferences are follow-ups to similar, very successful ones: in November, 1991, in Miami, sponsored by the Israel Export Institute, and in Baltimore, in November 1992, sponsored by the Israel Export Institute and the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce.
The New York event has special meaning. In April, Governor Mario Cuomo announced the formation of a New York-Israel economic development partnership and named a director.
