ISM alumnus finds space in world fashion.

MUSCAT: Ankita Bhatia Dutta, an Indian School Muscat (ISM) alumnus, is finding her space in the fashion world with her unique designs and creativity.

Her first collection was recently showcased at the Oslo Fashion Week. She is the first Indian to

participate at a Scandinavian fashion week.

Ankita who moved to Mumbai, India, after completing 12th grade in ISM, got selected to study at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), India's premier fashion institute.

First from Oman

She became the first student from Oman to get selected by NIFT on merit basis.

Ankita did a three-year fashion design and development course at NIFT. To gain experience, she worked in the Mumbai fashion industry for four years and then moved to Toronto, Canada to pursue international fashion management at George Brown.

Ankita is the daughter of ISM teacher Pratibha Bhatia. Ankita moved to Norway a little over

one-and-a-half years ago after her marriage.

Oslo Fashion Week started over eight years ago and happens twice a year, February and August.

Each year, 60 to 70 fashion designers send in applications to participate. Only two to five new designers are selected to participate in addition to the well-known designers. Ankita's first collection under her label Bouquet by Ankita was called 'Chai Latte'. With this, she launched her company Bouquet. The collection was a fusion between the West and the East.

The collection was appreciated and welcomed by Norwegian media and the fashion industry.

Norway's leading newspaper, Aftenposten titled their article on Ankita as 'Indian at Fashion Week' while Oslo Fashion Week wrote 'It was like looking into the closet of the Queen of Saba'. Ankita is now gearing up for the next fashion week.

Her collection is currently available online at a Denmark based net boutique. Bouquet's official website can be seen at http://www.bouquetbyankita.com/
