ISCCO receives national enterprise award. (shakeout).

Independent Steel Casting Co. (ISCCO), New Buffalo, Michigan, was awarded an Honorable Mention Blue Chip Enterprise Award sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Mass Mutual Financial Corp. in the 2000 national competition.

The award recognizes small businesses that have overcome challenges, seized opportunities and creatively used their resources to achieve success.

The foundry transformed itself into a profitable, growing, high-tech manufacturer after suffering several years of financial difficulty, said Robert Kegerreis, ISCCO president.

Three years ago, ISCCO had less than 50 employees, but now has grown to more than 100.

ISCCO produces stainless steel, steel and aluminum investment castings. Its markets include the transportation, food processing, aircraft and medical industries.
