INTRODUCTION

In spite of the fact that the instruction framework everywhere throughout the globe features the estimation of academic development by methods for the most present day innovative advances with the end goal to deliver compelling and reminiscent learning.1 But lectures still remain the most general approach of teaching in higher education. During lecture, students learn by listening, observing, and taking note of important points.2

With the development of various showing strategies, the therapeutic instruction process wound-up assorted and intuitive. Wherever educating is conveyed through addresses each shot must be made to frame an intriguing learning condition. Under studies of this period are very PC proficient and where conceivable this ought to be used to meet their instructive prerequisites.

Stepp-Greany (2002), reported, in her study, a number of benefits for students related to the general use of technology in classrooms including increased motivation, improvement in self-concept and mastery of basic skills, more student-centered learning and engagement in the learning process.3

Prezi is a Hungarian software company, producing a cloud-based presentation software and storytelling instrument for giving concepts on a virtual canvas. It was launched in 2009; currently more than 35 million people are using it. The software is open and easy to exercise. A few online video instructional exercises are accessible for direction of individuals on the utilization of Prezi (www.prezi.com).

It is one of the Web 2.0 tools (Facebook, Word Press, Twitter, YouTube, and Prezi) used not only to support teaching and learning but also promoting students' engagement and participation in order to achieve meaningful learning.1

Prezi has several distinguishing features than that of other conventional style of presentations. It allows the educator to import power point slides into a presentation. Comparative significance of topics can be imparted by dimension and place. Perhaps it helps remembrance and gives a supportive outline with regards to theme. As this software permits simple embedding of video clips into presentations which enhances retention of information. Moreover, it provides a better group collaboration because it allows nearly 10 persons to work as group effectively. Prezi may also facilitate to framework thoughts in pupils of medicine due to its sturdy stress on optical flair contrasted with typical introduction programming.

Traditional presentation, tool as Power Point documents all glides trail in line order and each glide is of similar dimension, while summary slides empathize on whole lecture's configuration. The presentation neverthelessbasically moves on in a linearsetup4. Prezi permits making of a 'mindmap' whiteboard or chalkboard style.

Prezi may likewise help the relational abilities of educators, additionally upgrading learning on the off chance that it is worked appropriately.

PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS

A non-probability purposive study was conducted in Department of Physiology, Shalamar Medical and Dental College, Lahore from 12 February to 16th March 2018. A total of 80 first year MBBS students aged 18-22 years participated in the study. Forty students were male, and remaining half were female.

This research project was approved by Institutional Review Board (IRB). It was a cross sectional study. After teaching blood module to students of first Year MBBS through prezi, a seven itemed questionnaire was circulated to appraise student's perception regarding lectures conveyed by use of Prezi. Four questions were closed ended and ranked on a Likert scale having five points ranging from 1 to 5 Moreover, three questions were open for students to give views in their own words so as to identify merits, demerits and limitations of having lectures delivered consuming this soft ware. Many views of the students were collected.

Data Analysis

After the questionnaires were replied by the participants (students), we analyzed the data of closed ended questions by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS version 20). The data were presented in the format of frequencies, percentages and bar graphs for every query. Responses to closed queries were taken as ordinal factors. Chi square test was used to calculate significance between responses and gender. The statistical significance was based on a p value 0.05*).

Responses to open ended questions were gathered and set. The written data was entered in QSR N software version 9.

Data was analyzed by coding documents at nodes.

Nodes were clustered by coding similarity (Table 2, 3 and 4, 5). Nodes were also compared by number of items coded by tree map (Fig. 1). Relationship of nodes was visualized through a model. Theme codes were generated and analyzed. Results of open ended questions were also depicted through pie charts (Figure 2, 3).

DISCUSSION

The application of technology in education system has developed latest ways of teaching and learning. Innovation enhances learning not just by giving a decent impression of the subject yet it likewise persuades understudy to investigate more.5 Innovations brought revolutions but medical educationist believes that it must be used carefully.

With the use of latest style of presentation, the Prezi, in lectures, many of students founded it more interesting, entertaining than that of power point and they reported that lectures delivered through Prezi were more encouraging and attractive. Duffy RM et al. also highlighted the potential of Prezi in 2014.

Besides the positive findings of Prezi, few students had problem in understanding its non linear style and they did not like distraction produced by its frequent movement. But many were of opinion that if expertise is used to operate the software, it would be more beneficial. Duffy RM et al also presented a list of steps. With the use of these guidelines, the common reported problem of using Prezi can be lessened.6 In addition to take these steps, we have to follow the general rules of good quality presentation like visible lettering, avoidance of overcrowded slides while delivering the lectures.7

Technology plays a vital job in pedagogy like in every field. Whenever teachers exercise it in their classrooms, indeed, they covet to catch the attention of the students, so they can enhance successful methods for learning.

By importing data from Power Point into Prezi, we can fulfill the demands of those students who had problem of understanding lectures delivered through Prezi. Because power point is the traditional way of presentation adopted not only by educators but also by business people, trainers and students5.

The instructional landscape in learning has vividly improved by presence of new technology like web 2.0 application.8,-10 The instructional use of Web 2.0 technologies such as wikis, blogs, iPods, podcasting, text messaging, and other social software like distributed classification systems has been increased as many universities around the world are already exploring its use.11,12 The use of Web 2.0 technologies to schooling has drastically changed especially over the last five years, along with uncountable new improvements and tools evolving one after the other. These technologies dare the suppositions in the existing educational curricula planning active learning methodologies. Instead of teaching/learning styles in which knowledge is spread from teachers to students, Web 2.0 tools are founded on a social constructivist background which provides opportunities for student-centered styles of learning.

Web 2.0 technologies deal instructors unique prospects for creating an active and engaging learning environment where their students appear to absorb in a more productive way.11,13.

It is concluded that Despite all results, we have certain limitations because of lack of control group. So we cannot comment on superiority of type of software. Overall, Prezi is good software. Its every confusion is because of newness of the software. Numerous disadvantages can likewise be stayed away from by setting aside opportunity to teach learners about this software in addition to other tools of web 2.0 tools. The method can be used not only in the teaching and learning in class but it can also be applied through seminar in which the presenters can explain clearly to the audience by using prezi besides additional components of web 2.0 technology.
