 IRS OFFERS TAX TIPS
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The IRS in Nashville

today offered the following tax tips:
Didn't get your W-2? The IRS may be able to help you!
If you have contacted your employer but still cannot get a W-2 form to file with your tax return, call toll-free at 1-800-829-1040.
The IRS will need to know your dates of employment with that company; an estimate of your wages received and taxes withheld; and the employer's name, address, telephone number, and employer ID number (if available).
The IRS can then contact the employer about sending you a W-2 and can also provide you with a substitute W-2 to be attached to your tax return in case the employer still does not send one.

Need help completing and filing your federal income tax return? IRS-trained volunteers are in or close to your community right now and are ready to help!
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs make FREE tax help available to people in every county in Tennessee. The tax-help sites are staffed by trained local volunteers, offering tax help to low-income, elderly, handicapped, or non-English speaking persons. Persons who come to a VITA or TCE site for help should bring their IRS tax package, their W-2 forms and other income statements, and a copy of last year's tax return.
Sites are usually located at community centers, shopping malls, libraries, and churches and are often open on nights and weekends or by appointment. Watch for local advertising of sites, or call the IRS toll-free at 1-800-829-1040 to find the site closest to you.
