IRISH DAILY Mirror COMMENT: Paedophiles must serve all their time.

IT beggars belief that any politician should seek the early release of an evil monster such as Joseph Nugent.

Lest we forget, Nugent was jailed for six years for raping a schoolboy ONE THOUSAND times.

Most people would be of the opinion that six years is not nearly enough for so depraved a criminal, and that the old cliche "lock him up and throw away the key" is particularly apt.

Yet Junior Minister Tony Killeen clearly thought otherwise. His constituency office sent two letters requesting Nugent's early release.

He claims the representations were made on humanitarian grounds.

But in doing so, surely he is committing an act of gross inhumanity towards Nugent's innocent victims, who no doubt still bear the agonising mental scars of their horrific ordeal?

Mr Killeen has now apologised and, we hope, seen the immense error of his ways.

To any other TDs who may be thinking it would be a good idea to request the early release of sex beasts, may we offer this sound advice.

For the sake of your reputation, credibility and future election prospects - don't.
