IRGC Official: Erdogan Acting as IsraelaACAOs Puppet in Syrian Crisis Until Recently.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader's Deputy Representative at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Abdullah Haji Sadeqi expressed regret over the role played by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the Syrian crisis, and said the premier was more acting as a puppet at the service of Israel's plots until very recently when he shifted his country's policy.

"Erdogan had turned into a puppet in the hands of the Zionist regime, but since very recently we have been witnessing that he is waking up from sleep," Haji Sadeqi told FNA in the Central city of Qom on Tuesday. He said given Turkey's failure in its policies in Syria and Erdogan's willingness to expand relations with Iran, the two countries would witness a new season in their bilateral ties. Turkey played a negative role in the Syrian crisis by supporting the terrorist groups financially and logistically for over two and a half years, but in a U-turn policy in recent months it decided to pull down its mischievous activities in the neighboring country. In relevant remarks in June, Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Ali Reza Bigdeli said Turkey could act better and play a peacemaking role in Syria as the crisis in the Muslim state has turned into a regional and international problem today. "Improvement in Iran-Turkey bilateral relations, too, can contribute to reducing difficulties in Syria," the Iranian ambassador said speaking with Turkey's Zaman daily at the time. The envoy further stressed that Turkey can potentially play a positive key role in Syria. "We believe that the fate of Syrian people should be determined by themselves. Syrian crisis does not have a military solution," Bigdeli added. "The problem should be solved through dialogue. We are against any military intervention in Syria but certain powers talk instead of the Syrian people and call for Assad's downfall," said the envoy. He also noted that Iran's support for the Syria government is legal, stressing, "But supporting the terrorists is illegal. The Syrian people should decide on Assad's future in the elections and we accept any decision made by people of Syria." Ee Ee Ee
