A lion by choice

Dear Sandra,

I READ your piece on Astrology recently, saying how the planets can affect babies in the womb.

My son was due on the August 25 which would have made him a Virgo, but he was born early.

I had an emergency caesarean section on the July 17 so his sign is Leo.

I read a lot of Astrology books and some say his real sign is the date he was due.

Which do you think is right? How do Astrologers predict the future?

My chart says I will work at something I have no interest in. Is our future fixed in the Stars?

Also, my birthstone is Turquoise but I don't like it, are any other stones lucky for me, I'm Sagittarius.

Deirdre, Tullamore.

Dear Deirdre,

YOUR son chose to make his appearance in this world with his Sun in the sign of Leo, so to me that makes him a Lion.

His astrological make up is determined by the positions of all of the planets at his exact date, time and place of birth so it makes no difference that he was born a little early.

Although certain planetary aspects suggest future trends, I believe in free will so I do not feel Astrological predictions are written in stone. The plantary lineup at your time of birth predicts an outline of what possiblities your future may hold.

Astrologers analyse forthcoming planetary trends and energies that may affect your life, and advise you on how to make the most of them, based on your birth chart.

This is different from Sun Sign Astrology, the horoscopes we love to read every day as they are different from an in-depth chart interpretation by an Astrologer.

Where birth stones are concerned, I believe the gemstone that appeals to you most is the one that suits you.

You may find one of your favourites listed under my Zodiac Gemstone list.

Best of luck!

FOCUS ON: CHRISTOPHER REEVE

His finest role was off screen

Name: Christopher Reeve

Profession: Actor

Date of Birth: September 25, 1952

Profession: Actor

Sun Sign: Libra

Date of passing: October 10, 2004

LIKE Superman, Christopher Reeves always displayed courage and strength thanks to a Sagittarian Mars trine Leo Ascendant and Pluto, and Mars sextile Neptune.

According to his birthchart, he was destined to make his mark on the world as a healer as well as an actor.

Unusual and significant cosmic factors were at work in his chart when he broke his vertebrae on May 27, 1995.

Jupiter semi-square Ascendant and semi-square Pluto; Uranus semi-square Neptune and North Node sesqui-square Ascendant.

This indicates that his destiny was to prove that strength is not just physical, and demonstrate the potent power of a positive mental attitude.

His prominent Jupiter, Sagittarian planets and Neptune explain his hope and optimism against all odds.

Before Reeve's accident, it was considered medical fact that nerves could not regenerate and spinal cord paralysis was untreatable.

He inspired the disabled community with his belief that he would walk again.

He is the first ever documented quadraplegic to make significant improve-ments many years after an accident.

He worked out constantly and led the American Paralysis Foundation in the development of research breakthroughs and new therapies.

He was a powerful fundraiser who wrote an inspirational book to help teach society how to overcome inner paralysis.

Neptune, the planet of fantasy and dreams ruled his 8th house of regeneration conjuncts with Saturn (which rules the bones) and exalted harmonious Libra. This explains why he never doubted he would walk again.

Jupiter, often prominent by transit at death, recently passed over his Sun and Mercury in early Libra.

The Jupiter/Sun transit suggests freedom, release from pain and hardship, and his ability to move on peacefully to the Spirit World.

Though tired of the comparison, it was hard for him to dissociate himself from his most famous role, Superman.

Strangely enough, his personal chart has the same ascending degree as the chart of the comic book hero he will always be remembered as.

Christopher Reeve willI PREDICT: continue to heal, inspire and champion the cause of the ill and needy from the afterworld.
