IRE COMMON STOCK NOW TRADES IN NASDAQ NATIONAL MARKET

BALTIMORE, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The common stock of Information Resource Engineering, Inc. (IRE) (NASDAQ-NMS: IREG), began trading today in the Nasdaq National Market, Anthony Caputo, chairman and chief executive officer, announced.
Information Resource Engineering, Inc., whose trading symbol is IREG, provides technologically advanced cost-efficient Network Security Products. IRE products use the Data Encryption Standard (DES), which is the preferred encryption algorithm for private industry and government applications. IRE systems are installed at a number of major organizations including Citibank N.A., Morgan Guaranty Trust Company, the U.S. Treasury Department and Computer Sciences Corporation.
Caputo noted that IRE's entry into the Nasdaq National Market provides brokers and others with immediate access to the best bid and asked prices and other information about the company's shares throughout the trading day. Those prices are available over more than 190,000 electronic terminals in brokers' offices throughout the United States and the free world. Trading data are also distributed widely through wire services for selective dissemination by newspapers and radio and television stations.
IRE recently reported a new quarterly record for the period ended Sept. 30, 1993, for revenue, which increased by 21 percent to $1,006,641 and pre-tax earnings, which increased to $250,047. This strong quarterly performance is the result of expanded use of IRE's Network Security Products by major organizations throughout the world.
In addition to increased market visibility, Nasdaq gives IRE the advantage of multiple market makers that compete to offer the best bid and asked prices, as opposed to a single specialist on the floor of a stock exchange.
Market makers for the company's stock include Barber and Bronson, Herzog, Heine, Geduld, M.H. Meyerson, NAIB Trading, Nash Weiss, Paragon Capital, Shamrock Partners, Sherwood Securities, and Wien Securities.
