IRAQ - Nov. 21 - NATO Declares Unity.

At the NATO summit in Prague, the allies issue a communique saying they "are united in their commitment to take effective action to assist and support the efforts of the UN to ensure full and immediate compliance by Iraq" with the UN Security Council resolution demanding Iraqi disarmament. (The US sought in vain to get a stronger statement of support for its efforts to disarm the Saddam regime by force if necessary. But opposition from some allies reluctant to back a war resulted in watered-down final wording). As NATO members meet in Prague, US and British warplanes bomb two air defence radar sites in southern Iraq in the latest of a series of strikes in "no-fly" zones over northern and southern parts of the country.
