IRAN, ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF : Iran launches third oceangoing ship 'Iran Kashan' in southern waters.

Deputy director of Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex Company(ISOICO) for executive affairs, Mohammad Shafii-Rudsari said that Iran's third home-made oceangoing ship named 'Iran Kashan' launched in the southern waters of the country.

The official said, The ship, which has a capacity of 2,200 containers, is 30 meters wide, 187 meters long and 16 meters high. The ship has a speed of 20 knots per hour. The ship can go to sea for 40 days running.

Shafii-Rudsari further said that the nation's second oceangoing ship named Iran-Shahrekord will be officially launched by the end of current Iranian year. In the past, Iran-Shahrekord ship was launched tentatively. Complementary tests should be passed by it to get certified for launching into the open seas.

On May 31, the country's first oceangoing ship, named Iran-Arak, officially joined the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines. A quality certificate was secured by Iran-Arak from the Germanischer Lloyd technical supervisory organization. The world most advanced navigation systems are included in this.

Iran-Arak measures 185 meters length, 30 meters width. It can carry up to 30,000 tons of cargo (2,200 containers).

Shafii-Rudsari added that another two oil tanker ships with the capability to carry 3,5000 tons cargo are currently under construction and their construction ends at the next Iranian year.
