IRA paradox.

THE events in the United States last week represented a tragedy on a global scale.

President Bush is correct in his assertion that justice must be served.

However, it is paradoxical that those citizens of New York who now unanimously denounce terrorism, have allowed collections to fund the IRA to take place in their bars and restaurants for years.

Maybe some positives can be found in this hideous crime; firstly, the American people will no longer tolerate a criminal organisation like the IRA that has a history of murdering innocent civilians. Secondly, hopefully, the British government will not confine its "war against terrorism" to those of Islamic creed.

Tony Blair must follow in the noble footsteps of President Bush in ridding the world of terrorist organisations who are intent on killing innocent people, whether the perpetrators be Muslim or Christian.
