IRA 'COCK AND BULL' McGuinness hits out over former prisoner's claim on bomb order.
MARTIN McGuinness yesterday said claims he ordered an IRA bombing were a "cock and bull story".
The North's Deputy First Minister hit out at allegations made by a former prisoner in a BBC documentary.
Sinn Fein man Mr McGuinness said: "They are completely false. It is a pity that somebody has obviously convinced themselves. As far as I am concerned it is a cock and bull story. But the reality is you speak about the past, I recently went to London and met with Queen Elizabeth.
"I had plenty to recriminate about in terms of Britain's involvement with Ireland. She too had a lot to recriminate about. We didn't do that. What we prefer to do is learn from the mistakes of the past and work out a way to go forward to bring about a solution which will be fair and just for everyone."
Peter Rogers told the BBC Mr McGuinness and his party colleague Gerry Adams ordered him to bring explosives to Great Britain in 1980.
The 69-year-old is an ex-IRA prisoner who escaped from the Maidstone Prison Ship in 1972. Eight years later, he was jailed here for the murder of a garda. Mr McGuinness also said invitations for members of the British Royal Family to commemorate the 1916 Rising should be treated sensitively.
Queen Elizabeth along with her family and British ministers are set to stand alongside the Government here as it marks the 100th anniversary.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has already begun preparations to bring the Queen and other royals here.
