IPST TAPPI/PIMA student summit.

This year the student chapters of the Institute of Paper Science and Technology (IPST) held a Student Summit for all TAPPI and PIMA student chapters. About 70 undergraduate and graduate students From IPST, Miami University of Ohio, State University New York (SUNY), and Helsinki University of Technology, (HUT) gathered in Atlanta, Georgia, USA for three days of networking, learning and time.

The summit opened with Dr. Greg Hollod, vice president of environment health and safety for Riverwood International as the keynote speaker. Hollod spoke of the environmental and economic changes of the paper industry over the last ten years.

Dr. Derek Page led the group through an interactive discussion of the effects of a detergent on shirt brightness, allowing the groups to figure out the mysterious properties that relate to cellulose.
