IOMEGA CORP. ANNOUNCES REDUCTION IN FORCE

ROY, Utah, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- IOMEGA Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: IOMG) announced today that the company is restructuring its operations to reduce overhead expenses and thereby place the company in a better position to achieve profitable operating results despite increasing price competition and declining gross margins. This corporate-wide reduction in force has resulted in the elimination of 50 salaried positions from all levels of the organization, including vice presidents, managers and staff personnel. These 50 positions represent approximately 8 percent of the total salaried positions. There was no impact to direct labor production employees.
Commenting on this action, Leon Staciokas, acting chief executive officer, said, "The company needed to reduce its infrastructure and the associated overhead expenses in order to improve IOMEGA's competitive position in the industry." Staciokas also stated that as part of this restructuring action the company would move away from a product line organization structure and move toward a more traditional functional organization.
