IOMEGA AND NOMAI ANNOUNCES BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP; DEAL CALLS FOR IOMEGA TO MARKET NOMAI CARTRIDGES WORLDWIDE

ROY, Utah, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Iomega Corp. (NASDAQ: IOMG), located here, and Nomai S.A. of Avranches, France, announced today that they signed a binding letter of intent under which Iomega will become the exclusive worldwide distributor for Nomai's cartridge products compatible with Syquest Technology drives. Nomai will retain some marketing and sales rights for its cartridges in France. Iomega plans to begin marketing and selling the Nomai cartridges once its technical qualifications of the products are complete.
Syquest Technology Inc. previously filed suit seeking a preliminary injunction against Nomai in the Superior Court located in Santa Clara County, Calif., attempting to stop Nomai from manufacturing and selling cartridges that are compatible with Syquest Technology drives. On Wednesday, April 14, the court ruled in favor of Nomai and denied Syquest's request for preliminary injunction. Syquest has indicated it will pursue this lawsuit to trial. Nomai anticipates that it will take at least a year before this lawsuit comes to trial.
Nomai President Marc Frouin stated, "We are gratified with the court's ruling regarding the preliminary injunction and even more gratified that a company with Iomega's quality reputation will become our marketing partner for these products." Fred Wenninger, Iomega's president, added, "While we were confident in Nomai's legal position, we were awaiting the California court decision before proceeding with our relationship. We are looking forward to a long and profitable association that combines Iomega's worldwide marketing resources and Nomai's products."
Syquest has also filed legal actions in other countries against Nomai and with the U.S. International Trade Commission against Nomai and Iomega in an attempt to stop the defendants from entering the compatible cartridge market. Both Nomai and Iomega believe these actions are without merit.
