INVESTING IN CALIFORNIA; CRUTTENDEN BRINGS TOGETHER INVESTORS/GROWING COMPANIES

 NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Cruttenden & Co. has announced that it will hold its Sixth Annual Southern California Growth Stock Conference on Feb. 14-16, 1994, at the Le Meridien Hotel in Newport Beach.
 During the three day event, the only conference of its kind in this area dedicated to showcasing smaller capitalized, public companies, over 200 institutional investors and analysts from throughout the nation will meet the chief executive officers and chief financial officers of the area's most promising and fastest growing firms.
 "Our goal is to allow investors of all sizes, from the small independent pools to large institutional, to have direct access to company principals for an up-close view and review," said H.D. Thoreau, Cruttenden's conference chairman. "We're hoping to open financial doors that will enable institutional investors to discover new ways to increase their returns."
 Over 50 companies are expected to participate this year. The majority will be "homegrown California firms," continued Thoreau, "and that's another `feel good' reason for the conference.
 "In light of the economic bumps California has endured over the last few years, we're bringing together a collection of some of our nation's most successful, prospering businesses; and they're growing right here in Southern California's financial soil."

 Throughout the year, Cruttenden's research analysts track companies in a variety of industries, including computer software and hardware, health care, and consumer products and services. The most interesting are invited to participate in the conference, which includes making 12-minute presentations, breakout sessions with investors, and showing off their wares.
