INTERNATIONAL TRADING COMPANY NAMES MEXICAN NATIONAL TO HEAD MEXICO CITY OPERATION

 PEARL RIVER, N.Y., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Alan Elkin, chief executive officer of Active International, an international trading company, announced today that Mexican tourism and promotion authority Manuel Guillen Rabasa has been chosen to direct Active's new operation in Mexico City. "Everyone at Active is pleased to welcome Manuel on board," stated Elkin. "We are sure his tremendous drive, enthusiasm, and experience will prove to be wonderful assets as he promotes Active's reputation as a leader and trendsetter in the barter industry within the Mexican business community. We look forward to a wonderful partnership for many years to come."
 Mr. Guillen was employed for ten years with the Mexican Ministry of Tourism. He held such prominent positions as general director of promotion for North America and Asia, chief of advisors to the chief administrative officer of the ministry, regional director for the Mexican Tourism Offices in North America and director of the Cultural and Development Department.
 As a consultant, Mr. Guillen worked as an independent advisory for marketing and communications for several government and private institutions, as account group supervisor for Young & Rubicam, as an account executive for Noble & Associate, and as supervisor of Expert Sales for Delicias Tropicales, S.A.
 Mr. Guillen received his B.A. in Mass Media Communications for Universidad Iberoamericana. In accepting Active's offer he stated, "I believe Mexico City is the gateway to Latin America and holds the promise of new and vital markets for trade. I am committed to creating an exciting partnership between Active and Mexico City's business community, and I will focus on positive ways and means to optimize remarketing, increase cash flow and effectively exchange inventory for advertising on a global basis." He added, "My first hand knowledge of Mexico City and its particular business needs will be invaluable in establishing Active's role as a prominent and integral part of the economic fabric of this great city now and in the future."
 Mexico was chosen as the latest site for a new Active International office because it offers unsurpassed trade potential, especially in light of the NAFTA Agreement's open door policy extended to the disciplines of commerce ad business.
