INTERNATIONAL TOTALIZATOR SYSTEMS GOES LIVE WITH SPORTS BETTING NETWORK IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

CARLSBAD, Calif., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- International Totalizator Systems Inc.(R) (NASDAQ: ITSI) (ITS) successfully began operation of a fully computerized sports betting network in the Dominican Republic. A number of ITS DATAMARK(R) terminals have been installed in convenience stores, betting shops, cafes, grocery stores and gas stations where tickets will sell for about $1 (approximate U.S. equivalent).
The company will be paid a percentage of the gross sales on a weekly basis over the 15-year term of the service agreement. In a prior public statement, the company indicated that it anticipates the initial investment in the system to be returned within the first year of operation and within the first five years of operation, potentially receiving as much as $4 million in gross revenues.
Separately, ITS consummated the sale of 1,950,000 shares at $5.00 per share to Berjaya Lottery Management. The company made an announcement of the pending transaction earlier this month. An additional sale of 4,650,000 at $5.50 will be subject to shareholder approval. The company is in the process of rescheduling its record date and meeting date for its 1993 Annual Meeting of Shareholders and anticipates notifying shareholders of the new dates within the next two weeks.
