INTERNATIONAL TOTALIZATOR SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES NEW LOTTERY TERMINAL
CARLSBAD, Calif., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- International Totalizator Systems Inc.(R) (ITS) (NASDAQ: ITSI) introduces a new lottery terminal which utilizes a Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) reader at the Association Internationale Des Lotteries D'Etat (A.I.L.E.) Congress in Miami starting Oct. 1. A.I.L.E. is the international association of lotteries which holds meetings bi-annually with more than 120 lottery organizations represented. A.I.L.E. '92, the XIX Congress, is the first ever held in the United States.
The CCD reader permits capture of all graphic information on a customer marked slip including OCR characters, individual signatures and addresses. This information along with the bet details can be stored in the computer bet record as well as being printed on the customer bet receipt by the integral high resolution thermal printer.
The ITS CCD reading technology uses a contact reader similar to those used in the most advanced fax machines. By comparison, competitive terminals use a lens reduction technology which is believed to be more expensive and prone to frequent adjustments and generally less reliable.
CCD technology is a requirement for certain European markets, which the company will now pursue with this new product offering.
International Totalizator Systems Inc. provides customized ticketing, transaction processing and data management solutions for computerized pari-mutuel wagering, on-line lotteries and automated travel ticket printing.
