INTERNATIONAL EXPERT JOINS SAIC

 McLEAN, Va., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- A noted public commentator on international events has joined Science Applications International Corp.'s (SAIC) Strategic Assessment Center.
 Dr. James Blackwell was formerly director of political-military studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and was an assistant professor at the U.S. Military Academy. He first received international attention with his television commentary and analysis on CNN News during the Gulf War.
 Blackwell will serve as assistant director of the Strategic Assessment Center, which prepares integrated political, military, economic and technology assessments of countries, regions and functional areas. The Center also conducts supporting analytic studies of political-military issues, military and civilian technologies, business assessments and comparative studies. By focusing on significant long-term trends, major challenges and key opportunities, the Center assists top-level decision-makers, in and out of government, in their strategic planning process.
 Director of the Center is Jeffrey S. McKitrick, who recently spent four years in the White House as former Vice President Dan Quayle's advisor on Europe and the former Soviet Union. A former assistant professor at the U.S. Military Academy, McKitrick spent three years in the Pentagon's Office of Net Assessment.
