INTERNATIONAL DIVISION TO ESTABLISH FACTORY IN POLAND

WYOMISSING, Pa., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- John G. Johnson, president of VF International Division, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of VF Corporation (NYSE: VFC), today announced that VF will establish a factory in Poland to manufacture jeans for the local market and neighboring countries. The company has leased an approximate 100,000 square foot plant in an industrial complex 60 miles southwest of Warsaw in the City of Lodz. It is expected the plant will be fully operational by early fall and employ up to 200 people by the end of 1993.
In addition to VF's well-known Lee and Wrangler jeans brands, it is planned that its Maverick jeans brand, which was recently introduced in France, Germany and Holland, will also be manufactured and marketed in Poland. Maverick is targeted at the hyper market and discount distribution channels -- considered the largest and fastest growing segment in the European jeanswear market.
Commenting on its establishment of a facility in Poland, Mr. Johnson said, "In addition to serving local market needs, this facility will enable us to support regional expansion in Central Europe. It will also provide an important strategic sourcing link to our rapidly growing penetration in established major markets."
VF Corporation is an international apparel company headquartered in Wyomissing, Pa., and is a leader in the jeanswear, sportswear/activewear, intimate apparel and occupational apparel markets. Its principal brands are Lee, Wrangler, Rustler, Marithe & Francois Girbaud, Bassett-Walker, Jantzen, JanSport, Vanity Fair, Vassarette, Barbizon, Variance, Siltex, Bolero, Silhouette, Lou, Carina, Gemma, Intima Cherry, Red Kap, WorkWear and Healthtex. In 1991, VF ranked 152nd in Fortune's "500 Largest U.S. Industrial Corporations."
