INTERMEC BEGINS CONSTRUCTION ON NEW EUROPEAN DISTRIBN? CENTER, LABEL MANUFACTURING FACILITY

 EVERETT, Wash., Nov. 30 ~PRNewswire~ -- Intermec, a world leader in automated data collection technology for information management, announced today it is beginning construction on a new European distribution center and expanded bar code label manufacturing facility in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The new 31,000-square-foot facility will be completed this spring.
 The operation, formerly known as Harefa B.V., was acquired by Intermec in May 1990 to provide comprehensive support for European customers. It will now be known as Intermec Label Products B.V.
 "The European market is poised to grow more rapidly than the U.S.," said Gregory L. Tannheimer, Intermec's senior vice president. "Of the $2.8-billion worldwide automated data collection market, we estimate Europe to grow at 20 percent a year as more companies embrace the value of accurate, real-time information about their own operation ?he added.
 Intermec's European operations are headquartered in Dusseldorf, Germany. The company also has sales and service offices in Switzerland, Italy and the United Kingdom, as well as value added distributors throughout Europe.
 Intermec, headquartered in Everett, and a division of Litton Industrial Automation, designs, manufactures and markets a complete line of data collection hardware, software, services and label supplies.
