INTERACTIVE VIDEOSYSTEMS INC. ANNOUNCES BLACK'S PHOTO EXTENDS STARMAKER PROMOTION

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Interactive Videosystems Inc. announces that Black Photo Corp. of Toronto has extended the current STARMAKER VIDEO promotion to the end of 1993. This promotion includes a limited time price offer plus a comprehensive merchandising program which is running at all 208 Black's stores across Canada.
The STARMAKER VIDEO uses computer technology to digitally scan a child's color picture into a special software program that converts it into a cartoon character within a full-motion, animated cartoon. The narration and read-a-long video subtitles are also personalized with a child's name for a completely customized feature cartoon. Customers simply have to drop off a photograph of a child at Black's and the finished product is available within two weeks.
Sales of the STARMAKER VIDEO have been steadily increasing as consumers see the product as an ideal seasonal gift item. An advertising program has commenced in selected markets, and a national publicity program is scheduled to open in mid-November. The company's public relations are now being managed by Haibeck Communcations Inc. of Vancouver.
A computer version of the STARMAKER VIDEO will be introduced in early 1994. This version will feature the same personalized story but allows children to interact with their customized story by re- painting the images in addition to changing the narration, re-editing the sound track, and solving puzzles.
