INTELLIGENT ELECTRONICS REPORTS 40 PERCENT INCREASE
 IN BIZMART SAME STORE SALES
EXTON, Pa., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Intelligent Electronics, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: INEL) announced today that its BizMart chain of supercenters increased same store cash register sales 40 percent during the 5-week period ending July 4, 1992.
Fifty-seven BizMart supercenters have been opened a year or more and are included in the calculation, which reflects all company-owned and franchisee sales through BizMart's registers. The growth figure compares to same store sales increases of 17 percent reported for the same period last year.
Last July, BizMart launched a store rollout and enhancement program featuring an expanded product category of name-brand computers and computer products. At the close of this June period, sales of computers and related products accounted for approximately 34 percent of BizMart's cash register sales. Comparable store sales of traditional office products lines were up 15 percent.
The company said customers are responding enthusiastically to its strategy of combining a computer supercenter and an office products supercenter under one roof to provide complete productivity solutions.
To date, 88 BizMart supercenters offer value-priced products and services for the office through more than 1.7 million square feet of retail selling space in 43 markets nationwide.
Intelligent Electronics, Inc. is a leading source of office productivity solutions. The company operates a network of BizMart supercenters and more than 1,600 franchised and affiliated resellers in large cities and small towns across America.
