INTEGRATED NETWORK FILES SUIT FOR PATENT INFRINGEMENT

BRIDGEWATER, N.J., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated Network Corporation (INC) today announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Conklin Instrument Corporation of Pleasant Valley, N.Y. and Norcross, Ga., asserting claims for infringement of two of INC's patents and a claim for Conklin's tortious interference with INC's relationship with a major customer.
INC said that the claim of tortious interference resulted from circumstances in which Conklin has sold its allegedly infringing products.
The suit relates to OCU dataports, which are telecommunications devices used to deliver high-speed digital transmission services between telephone company offices and customer premises.
The two INC patents which Conklin is accused of infringing are U.S. Patent No. 4,745,622 entitled "Equalizer for Digital Transmission Systems," and U.S. Patent No. 5,144,624 entitled "Direct Digital Access Telecommunication System with Signaling Bit Detection."
INC's Extended Range Equalizer corrects for loss of gain and distortion in the frequency spectrum of the data signal. The technology thus allows RBOCs to extend their loop range to include a non-loaded loop in the wire center. INC's Signaling Bit Detection allows provisioning of Switched 56 service from remote serving offices. It also provides improved maintenance in conjunction with digital cross- connect systems.
The Conklin products which are the subject of the lawsuit are the Conklin Model 322, Issue 3, List 3 and List 4 All-Rate OCU-DP dataports.
In its complaint, INC is asking for an injunction against any further infringement or tortious interference by Conklin as well as a monetary award for damages.
The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
INC, founded in 1985, has more than 20 national and international patents for development of high-speed network access equipment. INC pioneered many of the methods and standards used in Switched 56 and is the acknowledged leader in the dataport field.
