 INTEGRATED CIRCUIT SYSTEMS ACHIEVES MILESTONE
WITH SHIPMENT OF ITS 10 MILLIONTH VIDEO TIMING IC
VALLEY FORGE, Pa. Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated Circuit Systems (NASDAQ: ICST) (ICS) announced today that it has shipped its 10 millionth video timing generator integrated circuit.
This major achievement for ICS has been accomplished in just over two years. In late 1989, ICS began shipping the ICS1394 as a replacement for discrete crystal oscillators for video dot clock timing applications in personal computer VGA (video graphics array) display boards. Since then the ICS1394, and several other derivative products introduced during 1991, have become the most widely used video timing ICs in the PC industry. Each replaces from four to as many as 32 discrete crystal oscillators, a major space- and cost-saving advantage for VGA board manufacturers.
Edward Arnold, president and chairman of ICS, commented, "We have achieved a real milestone using a combination of mixed analog and digital design expertise, aggressive marketing and a commitment to maintaining our leadership position in supplying more advanced products of this nature to our customers. We are proud that ICS' patented video dot clock generators have become industry standards."
ICS followed on the success of the original ICS1394 with additional products in its video timing generator family, including dual, enhanced, high-performance and programmable versions. These products have contributed to the record revenues reported by the company for its recently completed second quarter ended Dec. 31, 1991, and to the rise in the three-month rolling average book-to-bill ratio from 1.1 as of Oct. 31, 1991, to 1.3 as of Jan. 31, 1992.
ICS, founded in 1976, designs, develops and markets standard and application-specific VLSI integrated circuits using mixed analog/digital signal technology.
